The Full Story
CREATING HOPE
PROJECT
At Ellis & Cherry Inc, our mission is to provide comprehensive support and services to individuals experiencing homelessness, empowering them to regain stability, dignity, and self-sufficiency. Through outreach, shelter, housing assistance, and wraparound services, we strive to address the root causes of homelessness, including poverty, lack of affordable housing, mental illness, and substance abuse. By collaborating with community partners, government agencies, and volunteers, we work to create pathways to housing, employment, and healthcare, while advocating for policies that address systemic inequalities and promote housing justice. Together, we envision a future where every person has a safe and secure place to call home, and where homelessness is rare, brief, and non-recurring.
Soup For The Soul
With our "soup for the soul" initiative we will set up winter soup kitchens along with regular food drives to provide nutritious meals to those in need during those cold days through the year.
Winter Soup Kitchen & Food Drive
Street Savior Project
Clothing Drive
Our "Street Savior Project" is our annual clothing and blanket drive to collect and distribute clothing and other goods to individuals and families in need.
Life Skills 101
Educational Initiative
"Life Skills 101" is something you could call a full scale rehabilitation initiative, one that begins with crisis intervention services and counseling to address the mental health challenges faced by many homeless individuals. This initiative also contains workshops from financial literacy (teaching individuals how to manage money), finding access to financial resources and plan for a more stable future social integration skills. Also while developing programs that provide job training and assistance with resume building, helping homeless individuals acquire skills for sustainable employment and begin job searching. Pretty much the 1,2 and 3 of how to get your life back on track.
Healthy Habits
Health & Hygiene Initiative
Set up clinics or mobile units with hygiene stations equipped with showers providing free health check-ups, personal care items, hygiene kits and basic medical services like vaccinations for families and children promoting cleanliness and well-being. We will also provide education on maternal and child health, including prenatal and postnatal care to assist families in need.
Feeding Hope
Through our "Feeding Hope" project we intend to establish a food distribution program to provide nutritious meals to families and individuals facing food insecurity and homelessness. We will also implement initiatives that address malnutrition by providing nutritious meals and educating parents on healthy eating habits.
